Periscope’s BuySpeed Rated in Critical Capabilities Report

Leading Industry Analyst Evaluates Best-of-Breed E-Procurement Vendors

  • Periscope Holdings, Inc. today announced that its BuySpeed e-procurement product solution was rated by Gartner, Inc. in a study analyzing 14 best-of-breed vendors.
  • The Gartner report is entitled “Critical Capabilities for Best-of-Breed E-Procurement Vendors”.
  • Periscope was one of 14 vendors evaluated according to use cases that are typical across organizations.  Gartner specified eight vendor inclusion criteria, including a minimum of 25 installed customers.
  • The report scored the solutions on 11 critical capabilities.  Periscope’s BuySpeed solution scored 3.7 overall. 
  • To determine ratings, Gartner analysts identified the most common capabilities required by clients for an e-procurement system and developed an extensive list of functionality for each.  Vendors identified the features they currently support and customer feedback on usability and completeness of the functionality was used to adjust the scores.

NIGP Code: a highly useful procurement tool

No question about it: The NIGP Commodity/Services Code (NIGP Code) has become THE national standard for product/service codes used in public purchasing in the United States. It is used at some level by 33 states and thousands of local jurisdictions and political subdivisions.

The NIGP Code features an extensive library of descriptive terms, assembled, indexed and organized into a comprehensive classification structure to identify and describe a wide variety of products and services. All in all, the NIGP Code offers an effective coding structure for standardizing purchasing.
